Shyft to become Standard Bank’s hub for digital investing

Trading platforms migration
Standard Bank is consolidating and moving its retail investment platforms – Online Share Trading (OST), Webtrader, and AutoShare Invest (ASI) – clients onto Shyft, our all-in-one global money app.
Why the shift to Shyft?

This decision follows careful consideration of client feedback, industry trends, and a review of the existing online retail trading platforms.

Shyft was selected as the most suitable platform for servicing clients’ global and local investing and trading needs across various currencies and assets.

The move also reflects a commitment to delivering a faster, simpler, and more seamless investment experience – accessible across all devices, with competitive rates and instant funding.

When will the migration happen?

Henry Dhliwayo, Head of Global Markets Retail at Standard Bank Corporate and Investment Banking, says the migration will occur in phases throughout 2025 and early 2026 to minimise disruption and ensure stability.

Each phase will be carefully planned and communicated, he reiterated.

The process has already begun with OST clients who use the platform to invest in shares and exchange-traded funds. In the later stages, those with other financial instruments on Standard Bank platforms, such as tax-free investment accounts, derivatives, or structured products, will migrate.

Additionally, accounts managed by third parties or intermediaries will transition to Shyft as the rollout progresses.

The Webtrader, ASI, and OST platforms will remain available during the migration. “However, eventually, they will only be accessible via Shyft,” Henry says.

The power of Shyft

Since its launch in 2016, Shyft has revolutionised how clients manage international travel, shopping, and payments. It offers the cheapest forex rates in the market, and its physical and virtual multicurrency cards make it a complete money solution in your pocket.

The addition of JSE-listed shares on Shyft has made investing locally and globally even easier.

Shyft is available to all South African and Botswana residents, whether you bank with Standard Bank or not.

Keep an eye on your inbox for direct communication about your migration. If you’re not using Shyft yet, now’s a great time to explore the app.
