The move to Shyft is happening in planned phases to ensure a smooth, hassle-free transition. Clients from Online Share Trading, WebTrader, and AutoShare Invest will be notified by email when it’s their turn. We’ll handle the admin and keep you updated every step of the way—from activation to completion.

Best part – your move to Shyft will be at no cost to you!

What Online Share Trading clients need to know

In August 2025, we will start welcoming Online Share Trading clients with shares and ETFs to Shyft! If you are an OST client and don’t hear from us, it is likely that your migration is coming up in a later phase, especially if you hold more advanced instruments like derivatives, structured products, or futures. Please also check your inbox (and spam folder) for updates.

What WebTrader clients need to know

Migrations to Shyft are happening in phases. If you're a WebTrader client, we’ll be in touch soon with details about your move. To check your status, or to move early, call 0860 121 555 or email securities@standardbank.co.za.

What AutoShare Invest (ASI) clients need to know

We’ll reach out as soon as our Shyft platform is ready to support the ASI product suite. In the meantime, feel free to download Shyft from your app store or via the Standard Bank Mobile App Add-On store.

If you're already a Shyft investor

No additional setup is needed. Simply open the Shyft app, accept the Terms and Conditions, and elect to migrate.

If you’re a Standard Bank customer, but don't have Shyft

  • Open your Standard Bank mobile banking app.
  • Tap on the Add-On drawer on the home screen.
  • Scroll down and select the Shyft add-on.
  • Follow the simple steps to register.

If you new to Shyft

Download the Shyft app from your phone’s app store. Open it and follow the steps to register.

Once you’re registered

  • Open the Shyft app.
  • Accept the Terms and Conditions.
  • Choose to migrate your Online Share Trading account.

What happens next?

Once you've elected to migrate, you’ll receive an email with key migration dates and next steps.

Migration Timeline (3 Days):

  • Day 1: Final day to trade on your current Online Share Trading platform.
  • Days 2–3: A freeze period begins:
  • Your OST account will be locked to allow for settlement and transfer of your shares and ETFs.
  • Your cash will be moved to your Shyft Wallet at the start of this period, so you can still make purchases in your Shyft investor account.
  • Note: You won’t be able to sell positions currently being transferred during this time.

You’re all set on Shyft

Once your portfolio is live and your transfer is complete, you’ll get a confirmation email from us. Any residual cash amounts owing to you, including interest and other sums, will be moved over to your Shyft wallet at the beginning of the new month.

Register and onboard with Shyft

The total process takes 3 days. Your "last day to trade" will be communicated to you via email and thereafter your account will be locked for 2 days to allow for successful transfer and settlement of your shares. Your cash will be transferred to your Shyft investment account the day before migration for you to buy shares should you wish to trade.
